In Saskatoon and Edmonton, "The Reefer Man" (Sept. 11, 14-16, 18-19; Festival House) was chosen as 'Best of the Festival', with hold-over performances. Born from his "...desire to create an intelligent comedy with a pro-marijuana theme," actor, documentary filmmaker and lawyer Russell Bennett's previous credits include writing and directing the documentary STONED: Hemp Nation on Trial, which aired on CBC Newsworld in 1998 and was nominated for Best Political Documentary at the HotDocs International Film Festival the following year.
